This trail takes you through the scenic surroundings of Viborg. Along the way you will come through a wooded area where you can enjoy the beautiful forested nature. In addition, you will also come past Søndersø and Nørresø, where you may be lucky to see ducks and other birds. You are encouraged to bring binoculars if you are interested in birds.

This trail follows most of the Hærvejen (the Ancient Road), a hiking trail that runs from Frederikshavn and Hirtshals in North Jutland, and down to Padborg at the Danish-German border. This segment runs between Viborg and Padborg. The Ancient Road got its name because in the past it was used to transport an army up through Jutland, which led residents along the trail to build fortresses and dykes. This trail comes via Hærvejen from Viborg to Aars. Hærvejen was a main thoroughfare through Jutland at the time, which was used as a trade route between different towns. Along the way, the trail will pass through forests, open field landscapes, heaths, come along and cross several streams and have a view of Hjarbæk fjord. Continuous track on the former Viborg-Herning railway. A large part of the path goes through forest and plantation, where the scenic surroundings can be enjoyed. Along the way, the trail will cross several streams that wind through the landscape. In addition, most of the trail is through the open countryside, where the fine field view can be enjoyed.

This trail goes around the scenic surroundings at Nørresø, which is beautifully surrounded by forests that stretch down to the shore of the lake. There will be good chances to see ducks and other birds, so it is recommended to bring binoculars if interested in birds. This path around the lake offers a nice view along almost the entire path.
