Rose Valley Scenic Loop via Reservoir Backside to Red Rock is an excellent hike if you’re looking for something short with some intensity. The incline is reasonable and the views on both sides are amazing. Overall it is a well-marked and well-groomed route. There can be some loose gravel and rocks, so bikers should be mindful.

There are a variety of trail options in the area to make a loop out of. Starting at the Reservoir parking lot, you can walk down the road and climb up the nice easy switchbacks on Daze of Roses. Continue along the Lake Loop over the lake and head to the big rock and then east on a trail to head to the provincial park. This middle section is not easy with 3 or 4 long steep climbs. A nice paved/gravel trail alongside beaches, bird sanctuaries, boardwalks, marinas, basketball courts, beach volleyball courts, soccer fields, water parks, playgrounds, skatepark and the tip of downtown. The trails in Kalamoir Regional Park are easy with some gradual incline. They offer some great views along the lakeshore portion of the trail, with some nice beaches provided to take in the views along the way. In winter, the parking lot at the bottom of Collens Hill Road may be inaccessible. There are several more access points from neighbouring streets.
