Located along the North Klondike Highway, the Gunnar Nilsson and Mickey Lammers Research Forest trails are family-friendly and easily navigated through signage. The first section of the route follows a forest service road which can be bypassed by just driving to the end of that road where there is an additional parking lot. The loop portion is a wooded path with some great views of the Takhini River.

Kettle Lake Loop begins at the Mountain Bike Training Track next to Klondike Highway. The trail itself is a short loop in a popular mountain biking network. The middle section is a bit overgrown so it may require some light bushwhacking. There is an enjoyable research area and there are lots of trails in various lengths with a great playground for kids, as well.
