A pleasant excursion within the Abetone Nature Reserve, starting from the locality Le Regine and proceed for a stretch on Viale Regina Elena up to the Belvedere where you proceed in a clockwise direction. The route crosses several streams until it reaches Lago Nero, where the homonymous refuge is also located. Following the path you pass from Alpe Tre Potenze (1985m) and then continue along the crest of the Dente della Vecchia (1841m) and Passo della Farina (1770m).

At the Abetone Pass, the two pyramids built on the Tuscan-Modena border in 1777 in memory of the Ximeniana road and Giardini are easily recognizable. The route climbs on a dirt road (loose gravel) which crosses the coniferous forest of Abetone and reaches, after about two kilometers, a stone fountain. An anti-clockwise loop excursion departing from Pian di Novello. This route follows the path of the Fondo Ring until you reach Poggio dei Pini. This path in the winter with snow turns into a cross-country ski trail. The route along the outward stretch passes by a beautiful monumental Beech.
