Popular hike at the foot of the Sainte-Victoire mountain, near the city of Aix-en-Provence, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department. The route begins in the forest, in the car park near the Saint Antonin-sur-Bayon ecomuseum, and continues to the Bimont dam. The return is via the dam and Lake Zola, a dam designed by the father of the writer Émile Zola. To see in the area: - The Sainte-Victoire mountain - Tholonet park - The Puy Sainte Reparade gravel pits - The old Roman aqueduct of Tholonet.

This beautiful hike in typically Provençal landscapes, near Aix-en-Provence, starts from the Carrière de Bibémus car park. The forest path offers a beautiful view of Lake Zola and its dam and leads you to Lake Bimont. The path crosses the Bimont dam and climbs the foothills of the Sainte-Croix mountain towards the Croix de Provence. The ascent to the top and very steep and rocky. You will have an exceptional panorama on Lake Bimont, the city of Aix-en-Provence and on the Bay of Marseille.

This route from Parc du Tholonet takes you to Lac Zola, an artificial lake formed by the Barrage Zola (37.25 meters high) along the La Cause river. The Zola dam is one of the first arch dams in Europe and was built in 1854. The Zola dam was decommissioned in 1980, but not destroyed. It is strictly forbidden to access the shore and to swim in this reservoir, for safety and environmental reasons.

This route starts from the town of Le Tholonet and takes you to Lac de Bimont. Along the way, you will pass by the Bimont dam and counter-dam. The Bimont dam is largely fed by the western branch of the Provence canal via an underground gallery. Its counter-dam collects the water discharged to supply the Marseille-north branch of the Provence canal.

This hiking route located in the department to the west of the Sainte-Victoire Mountain in the Bouches-du-Rhône, will make you discover the Château de Tholonet, the Moulin de Cézanne and pass over the Zola dam which created the reservoir of water from Lake Zola. The starting point is located on the Cézanne road. You will mainly follow marked paths.
