Quiet hike in old woods along the Willamette River You start from Takena Landing Park and walk along the Willamette River passing by the Golf Club of Oregon, under the railroad tressel, and through a canopy of trees and vines. The trails hugs the river most of the way, making a small loop at the end before you head back. Several places along the way give you a beautiful view of the river. Trail is packed dirt, will be muddy when it rains.

great morning hike. i went in mid April and the wild flowers were beginning to pop up. i heard a variety of birds including some woodpeckers. it's close to town but gives a sense of being in the deep woods, except that you can hear the traffic in the distance for the majority of the hike, but faint.

This is a loop hike, which can be done in either direction. Many hike it "counter-clock wise", and bike it "clock-wise." This is the "hike" version which climbs about 800 feet in 1.5 miles. Start at the gate and head up the 540 road about 1 mile, then take a right onto the 543 road, which is really a large single-track now. At the top of the climb, take a left onto the 560 "top" road.
