The beautiful Bunkum Cave Loop Trail leads to an overlook and the entrance to the historic Bunkum Cave, where Cordell Hull’s father made moonshine in the 19th century. Meandering towards the cave, you will descend down a steep staircase to the opening of the cave. The entrance of the cave is an impressive 100 feet wide by 50 feet tall.

The trail begins across from Bath House #3 in the horse camping area and spans the southern perimeter of the campground. Continue on the trail behind the campground pool and through a pine thicket, where the trail intersects Eagles Point Trail along the Picnic Area road. From here, guests can pick up the Eagles Point Trail and continue or backtrack Ranger Trail back to the trail head.

Features
Eagles Point is reputed to be the finest overlook on Dale Hollow Lake, offering vistas into Tennessee and views of the lake, islands and surrounding countryside. The trail winds south from the campground store (across from the basketball court). If one does not want to hike the entirety, the trail can be picked up from any of the marked waypoints.
