On the way south from the town of El Maitén, you come to a fork that gives way to Lago Negro, small in relation to its neighbors, Lago Bretrand and Lago General Carrera. The water is much darker than the nearby lakes, which gives it its name. It is a good place for a stop along the way to rest or take pictures.

This viewpoint is located between the road from Puerto Río Tranquilo to Cochrane. It allows a short walk along the shore of Lake Bertrand to observe the surroundings with its mountains, take pictures or simply take a break before continuing the route. It is the last possibility to closely observe Lake Bertrand since the route begins to move away and then when arriving at Puerto Bertrand only a small portion can be seen.
