While the Kiowa trail is nice and easy, the Upper Comanche can be a little tougher. One of the main highlights of this route is walking along the short red cliffs before it hits the Upper Comanche Trail near Hackberry Campground. Hunting is allowed in the area seasonally so hikers should wear blaze orange and remain on the trail during hunting season.

Prickly pear cactus is among the unique species of plant you may see on the trail. The off line map is recommended to get oriented as several users have reported that this trail is not well marked and/or that there may be poor cell reception in this area.
