The George Aull Natural Area is one of the last stands of 'virgin forest' in the southeastern US and is named after one of the people responsible for establishing the Clemson University Experimental Forest, thus protecting this stand of giant trees. Some developers of densely packed homes have been ripping up the land between Highway 187 (Wild Hog Road) and the old logging road which provides access to this natural area. As a result, the trail has been virtually unused for several years.

This is shared hking/biking trail. It is easy enough for beginner mountain bikers but, it has some challenges to keep a fast pace for more advanced riders. The full loop is only about 6 - 6.5 miles, but there are plenty of road crossings to bail if one needs to do so. Not all road entrances are marked well for the trail as new sections have been added over the last years.
