This is an alternative route to St-Jacques-de-Compostelle, long used by pilgrims and increasingly popular. The section presented here begins in Bassussarry and continues up to the Spanish border. It takes the most suitable roads and paths for walking, limiting to a minimum the passage on the automobile traffic lanes which despite everything remain the majority.
Activities
Features
This route is a tarred path, a quasi-Greenway on the banks of the Nive river, between the center of the city of Bayonne and the very beautiful Basque tourist village of Ustaritz, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department. This route can be taken by pedestrians, joggers and cyclists.

The first part of the coastal path offers a great diversity of scenery, alternating beaches, coves, paths and small roads. The arrival at the Pointe de Sainte-Barbe, from where one overlooks the bay of St-Jean-de-Luz is exceptional. A word of advice… to do preferably at low tide.
