Panoramic summit hike in the eastern foothills of the Gailtal Alps near Arnoldstein. From the parking lot you cross the river Gail and then follow a forest path, which rises only very gently up to about 850 meters in altitude. Here the path branches off into a relatively steep hiking trail that takes you to the summit. There is a rest area at about 1200m altitude.

The trail leads along the Austrian-Italian border upwards through a splendid stretch of woodland. The wood again and again opens out onto a view of the western Julian Alps and the Dobratsch in the North. The last section leads across the alpine meadowland of the Achomitzer Alm, Maria Schnee and finally the Feistritzer Alm. Section of the long-distance hiking trail Südalpenweg 03, Carinthia. From Thörl-Maglern it goes up in serpentines in the direction of Kapin and on the Italian side of the border. From the Kapin you have wonderful views of the Julian Alps. Again and again crossing the border, it goes over picturesque alpine pastures and accompanied by great views to the Dolinzaalm.

Popular high-altitude hike in Carinthia. This beautiful route leads to the Dobratsch Nature Park and to the summit of the same name. You can get to the starting point via a toll road or by bus from Villach. The protective and local mountain of the Villachers can be reached in several ways.
