Popular mountain hike in Salzburger Land. There are a number of parking spaces at the valley station of the Graukogelbahn, behind which the hiking trail begins. In the midst of and between magnificent wooded areas, it goes uphill with a very leisurely incline until you reach the mountain station and the Vinzenzkapelle. From there the Zirbenweg leads to the Graukogel. There are rest stops in Bad Gastein. The place can be reached by bus and train.

From Bad Gastein the path leads along Bismarckstraße and Kaiser Willhelm Promenade towards Hoteldorf Güner Baum. These first 50 minutes are a good start to the hike. Along the promenade you get many beautiful views of the front Gastein Valley. Over the bridge of the Kötschachbach it goes uphill again until you reach an asphalt road.
