This loop passes by the picnic area and fields in the Pickall Area of Patapsco Valley State Park. The path then enters into the forest and heads down towards the river. There are several spots to detour off the trail and walk along the banks of the river. This is a lesser trafficked part of the park and a great place to spend a day exploring.

This short loop begins from a picnic area and heads downhill toward the Patapsco River. A spur trail can be taken leading down to the banks of the river before heading back uphill to the start. The dam was originally built in 1808 but was removed in 2010 to allow the river to take its natural course and provide a healthier environment for fish.
