This abridged alternative to the full Tunnel Mountain Hoodoos Trail is an easy hike that follows the Bow River north under the east side of Tunnel Mountain, leading to the Hoodoos Viewpoint. There is some mild elevation gain near the viewpoint. The trail continues past the viewpoint for folks who want to extend their hike or run.

The Banff Legacy Trail is a well-maintained paved path, a great ride with slight downhill grade towards Canmore. In many places it is very close to the highway and the noise from traffic is very loud. You will not get much shade, so bringing sun protection is recommended. This trail is a favourite for locals and tourists alike during fall, thanks to the many larches that change colours, and the wide trail makes it easy to explore slowly.

Star Wars Loop is a fun and quick option. This trail is primarily used for mountain-biking, so hikers will want to know that this is a shared trail. For bikers, there are some great features: quick, solid berms, fun wooden features, and multiple jumps. The uphill walk back up is a nice challenge. The one side of the trail can be used for more air, berms and speed while the other is a winding, longer scenic route.

Hikers have the option of only going to the first one a short distance away from the parking lot, or continuing on as far as they want. Some unofficial offshoot trails branch off of the main trail.
