This is the third segment of the Rhine Cycle Path and runs from Basel in Switzerland to Karlsruhe in Germany. Coming from the Swiss border, the Rhine forms the border river between France and Germany. The Rhine Cycle Path follows both banks along nature reserves and hydroelectric power stations, picturesque villages, and Strasbourg before reaching the German city of Karlsruhe.

This route is particularly suitable for bike tours and leads through mysterious landscapes, lonely plateaus and quiet valleys. It leads along small pathways from Basel to the lake Lac Léman. You start at the La Lucelle stream and drive through the gently rolling hills of the Ajoie over a pass to medieval St-Ursanne. This bike tour starts at the main station in Basel and leads out of the city via Birsfelden, a place just outside of Basel. There the patha also crosses the river Rhine. It then continues along smaller roads through the area around the Dinkelberg mountain towards Schopfheim and then continues to Schönach in the Black Forest.
