This is an incredibly scenic and family-friendly route to see the 40-acre Lake. A lot of the route is shaded which is appreciated during hot summer days. Many alligators can be seen throughout the route, and it is important to keep a safe amount of space between them. The trail travels over a flat and sandy surface.

This route combines many of the popular trails available at Brazos Bend State Park. Start this hike by Elm lake where you're bound to see alligators on the banks sunning themselves. There are several observation towers located throughout the trail to stop and enjoy the surroundings while spotting wildlife in the area.

This route features a foot trail along Horse Shoe Lake, with plenty of gators sleeping along the trail. This is a flat and family-friendly hike. Most of the elevation gain is up and down a 30-foot tower overlooking the 40-acre lake. There is plenty of wildlife including deer, rabbits, birds, and plenty of gators. Please use caution and give them space as you walk past them on the trail and never approach or step over one.

This is a family-friendly path that is well-maintained and features of plenty beautiful views along the way. The trail is mostly made of gravel and there is little shade throughout the route- it is advised to bring some form of sun protection. Wildlife can be seen from many different points in the area.
