This is an incredibly scenic and family-friendly route to see the 40-acre Lake. A lot of the route is shaded which is appreciated during hot summer days. Many alligators can be seen throughout the route, and it is important to keep a safe amount of space between them. The trail travels over a flat and sandy surface.

This route combines many of the popular trails available at Brazos Bend State Park. Start this hike by Elm lake where you're bound to see alligators on the banks sunning themselves. There are several observation towers located throughout the trail to stop and enjoy the surroundings while spotting wildlife in the area.

This route features a foot trail along Horse Shoe Lake, with plenty of gators sleeping along the trail. This is a flat and family-friendly hike. Most of the elevation gain is up and down a 30-foot tower overlooking the 40-acre lake. There is plenty of wildlife including deer, rabbits, birds, and plenty of gators. Please use caution and give them space as you walk past them on the trail and never approach or step over one.

This is a great, wide gravel multi-use trail around a lake with lots of wildlife to observe. This loop circles Elm Lake inside Brazos Bend State Park. Accessibility: There are 4 designated accessible spaces in the paved parking lot off of Park Road 72 East at the north end of the trail. All of them are van-accessible with striped access aisles.
