This trail heads south off of the end of the Cicada Nature Trail. The beginning is marked by blue blazes which then turn into yellow blazes on wooden posts. As this route is a natural haven in the city, noise from the road can sometimes be heard in this area. The trail starts off as a paved sidewalk and then joins a sandy trail. The trail was lined with palm trees, saw palmettos, and white oak trees draped with Spanish moss.

The Cicada Nature Trail is the main trail leading into the Yamato Scrub Nature Area. It's a paved sidewalk trail making it wheelchair accessible and great for small kids. This is a nice wide and paved loop that travels the perimeter of Blue Lake. There are scenic overlooks of the lake and many opportunities to observe native wildlife in the area. There is also a nature trail that leaves from this main loop for those who want to explore the natural area surrounding the lake.

Bikes are not allowed in the natural area but can be used on the paved sidewalks around the lake. This is a pretty stroll through nature tucked away in the city. You will see plenty of iguanas and a turtle or two. Most of this trail is paved, but look out for the red square and yellow circle trails off of the main loop, which will take you through relatively secluded sandy paths. This is a well-maintained multi-use path that follows the El Rio Canal between Glades Road and Spanish River Boulevard in Boca Raton. It is a completely paved path that borders Florida Atlantic University to the east. The route features rest areas every so often under the shade provided by the numerous trees.
