A fantastic tour from the canton of Valais to Lake Maggiore. It starts in Ried-Brig in the district of Goms and initially leads over the Simplon Pass (2005 m), the highest point of this route. Then it goes on, through the Gondo Gorge and over the Italian border through the Val Divedro to Domodossola. It continues through the Valle d'Ossola, past the Lago di Mergozzo (196 m) to Verbania on the beautiful Lago Maggiore (193 m). The way back is the same way.

The starting point of this hike is in Brig at the cemetery and leads along the Saltina River. It moves along the chain path in the direction of the Saltina Gorge and offers great views of the Stockalper Castle along the way. The gorge of steep mountain flanks and boulders gives the gorge at the foot of the Simplon Pass a wild and natural touch. From the Saltina gorge it then goes down on other paths near the Wickertkreuzweg back to Brig.

This route, which is very well suited for a tour by bike, begins in Brig. First it leads to Rosswald and then through open terrain to the Salischpass at 2564m where you can pedal pretty hard. Then it goes down to Binn and then on to Grengiols and from there you move along paved roads down to Brig. It is a terrain, partly rocky, without much shelter, where you are exposed to the sun, especially in summer. So please don't forget to bring adequate sun protection and water.
