A walking route of Natuurmonumenten starting at the special Slot Haamstede, whose foundation remains date from Roman times. You can walk through the stately old avenues of the castle forest to the Zeepeduinen. The area consists of old and new dunes. You walk past a few bunkers, dating from the Second World War, which now house different types of bats. The route also passes a bird watching screen and you have a good chance of seeing fallow deer.

The Groene Wissel van Burgh-Haamstede introduces you to the rugged nature of the Kop van Schouwen. You leave the town past the church and Slot Haamstede and head into the dunes. The open dune area provides beautiful views. Every now and then you pass a fen. You will also pass a watchtower and walk a bit through the forest. You walk on the beach for quite a few kilometers (with a piece of nudist beach). A beautifully varied route.
