The Calkins Trail runs alongside the Winooksi River in a floodplain area home to many farms. This area is great for bird watching. The trail can be muddy in the springtime and buggy since it is near plenty of water. Bug spray is nice to bring along in the spring and summer. Follow the trail to McKenzie Park and loop around on the Blue Trail before heading back.
