Enjoy a gentle walk or a brisk run on the warm sands of Cancun's east coast beaches. Start this route at the public access to Playa Gaviota Azul. Really, you can make this trip as long or as short as you want, but this route shows you how to get to the parking lot for the Mayan Archeological zone if you want to combine your beach walk with a little ancient history. There is also a bus stop there, in case you want to go only some of the way back on foot.

This is a nice walk on the paved track that parallels the main street/Kukulkan highway and Cancun hotels. There is heavy traffic nearby, and extreme caution is advised. Although the path is mainly paved, it is broken in some spots. Watch your step. The beaches are public, so you can run there, but the sand is not "compacted," so it will be a workout.

Kukulcán Avenue, which derives its name from a Mayan god, is the main boulevard that runs along the Hotel Zone – the narrow land between the sea and the Nichupté lagoon. In addition to palm trees and viewpoints of the lake and sea, here you can find many places to stop for shopping or eating.
