This is a great hike to see the southern end of ESVA. The trail is well marked and connected to most of, if not all of the other trails at Kiptopeke. Lots of overview areas for pictures of the bay and the concrete ships. Dolphins can be seen close to shore in the morning or further out throughout most of the day. A gravel road leads visitors on a half mile tour of tidal marshlands and then to miles of white sand beach. Walkers can extend this route a couple more miles by walking along the beach all the way to Factory Point. The Back River Lighthouse was built in 1829 for $4250. It stood for 127 years before being completely destroyed by a hurricane in 1956. All that remains is a pile of rocks about 50 yards in the ocean. There are informational signs at the start of the trail.

This is a simple trail from the beachside parking lot down to the beach. It is on the campground side of US60, not across the highway with most of the trail system.
