This route begins in the center of the charming city of Castellane, then climbs to the Notre-Dame du Roc church, located above a rock, from where you will have a superb view of the city and the river. Verdon. On the way back, you will take the picturesque alleys of the Provençal town.

This hillside chapel sits high above Castellane at an altitude of 903m, wedged into a cleft between the mountains and offering a panoramic view across the valley. There has been a chapel of some form since the 9th century, although the present structure largely dates from later reconstruction in the 18th century. The chapel is accessed via a steep, winding path from town; allow about an hour there and back, or a bit longer if you take things slow.

Superb cycling route in the Verdon Regional Natural Park, starting from the village of Castellane. The climbs are on well paved farm roads, there is a fairly steep descent section and on gravel. Along the way, you will go around the Lac de Castillon and the Gorges du Verdon. This route is well signposted with number 7.

The village is located in the heart of the National Geological Nature Reserve of Haute-Provence, and at the gates of the magnificent Gorges du Verdon.
