Le Vieux Castillon

Itinerary on foot or by bike in the wooded hills of the forest of Saint-Martin, on the heights of the small Provençal village of Castillon-du-Gard, not far from the city of Avignon, in the Occitanie region. Hike in pretty countryside, starting from the small village of Vers-Pont-du-Gard. This route takes you to the magnificent Pont du Gard, a 50 meter high three-level bridge, intended for the passage of a Roman aqueduct, located on the Gardon river. You will also pass in front of an old mill from the 17th century.

Walk in the garrigue and along the river Gardon, which passes by the famous Pont du Gard and an old mill. This bridge is the highest of all Roman aqueduct bridges, as well as one of the best preserved. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985. You will pass by a sandy beach where it is possible to swim.
