Along the way, you will pass by the Vachères spring, the Chazeron castle which dominates the plain of Limagne, and the squirrel waterfall in the beautiful Sans Souci Valley.

The start of this cycle route is in the parking lot of the Châtel-Guyon Tourist Office in the Puy-de-Dôme department. This route goes through Volvic or Clermont-Ferrand and takes you to the Monts du Cantal. It crosses in particular the Regional Natural Park of the Volcanoes of Auvergne.

This walk goes around the Maar de Saint-Hippolyte, an ancient volcano now extinct, of which we can only guess the shapes. A maar is a bowl-shaped explosion crater measuring a few tens of meters and whose thin, low outline is formed of volcanic debris such as tuff, pumice or ash.
