The view of Lake Geneva from the Tour de Gourze is one of the best followed by a descent to the lake through the vineyards of Lavaux. “Here is La Tour de Gourze, a remnant of a 10th century fortress - once a refuge for the surrounding villages in times of ongoing conflict and unrest. The traveler will be enthused by the great capacity and diligence required to build the highway and railway in the narrow stretch between the mountains and the lake. " from Cook's tourist booklet.
