This is a beautiful and peaceful loop that travels around Hale Lake. There are benches located throughout the route to rest and enjoy the natural scenery. Wildlife is abundant in this area and it is common to see alligators and a variety of birds. Hale Lake is a large oxbow lake with many large ash, pecan, and oak trees draped with Spanish moss.

This short paved path leads to the George Observatory. Throughout the way, there are signs featuring planets whose distance represents the scale from the sun to Pluto. This is a great little side path to take that serves as an educational path to a scenic boardwalk. Alligators and a variety of birds can be sighted at the end of the pier.

This serene trail parallels the main park road and showcases the bog areas. There are several road crossing sections and caution is advised as there may be cars driving past. Overall, this is a good bird and wildlife viewing path through the wetlands where you may see great blue heron, green heron, egrets, ibis, and many common woodland birds.
