The meandering Mingo Trail winds through prairies that are filled with wildflowers during the summer months. It travels along a bend in the Scioto River, and even crosses an interesting suspension bridge. This small metro-park outside of Columbus is a great spot for experiencing nature just outside of the city.

Just a stone's throw from downtown Columbus, the Walnut Woods Metro Park is a beautiful forested area adjacent to Walnut Creek. The park has several family-friendly trails including the Sweetgum Trail. This paved trail is a loop passing through beautiful tall pine trees. Dogs are allowed too. There is a connector trail through the middle of the loop if you wish to shorten or lengthen your hike.
