Broad Hollow Trail extends from Rolling Road/Route 681 and heads up in elevation to the Sam's Ridge Trail. Parking is extremely limited at the trailhead, so any early start is recommended. The trail is mostly wooded and crosses some creeks which are typically flowing in the spring and early summer seasons.
Activities
Features
Begin from the Old Rag Parking Area. Since this hike shares a trailhead with Old Rag, one of the most popular hikes in Shenandoah, you will want to start early! A fire road leads to Robertson Mountain Trail, which crosses over the summit. You will follow Corbin Hollow Trail back to the fire road to finish the lollipop-shaped loop.
Activities
Features
The typical route to the Old Rag Summit is via the Summit Ridge Trail. Most hikers climb the ridge, and then return to their cars via the Weakley Hollow fire road. The fire road ends after about 2 miles, and connects with the Saddle trail which consists of a series of switchbacks to the summit. The scenery along the fire road is very wooded, but as you approach the Saddle trail, you will have some nice vistas.
