A great, longer circular hike with start and finish in Degersheim in the canton of Sankt Gallen. The path leads at the beginning on partly asphalted, quiet side roads, then on field and forest paths through a beautiful and varied landscape. First you reach Aach near Mogelsberg and then it goes through the Neckertal to the mountain restaurant Bergli near Dicken. This is open from October to April.

From Degersheim it goes through the idyllic Wissbach Gorge to the hamlet of Schwänberg, the oldest documented settlement in the Appenzellerland. Then via Herisau towards Urnäschtobel and on through the typical Appenzell hilly landscape from Hundwil to Stein.

The trail starts in Mogelsberg at the train station and then continues straight through the Neckertal valley. After about 2 kilometers it reaches the treetop walkway Neckertal which is very well done and particularly recommended for families, but which is also worth a visit as a detour from the tour.
