The Noord-Hollandpad (North Holland Trail) is a marked long-distance walking route (approximately 270 kilometers) from Wieringen or Texel to the Gooi. This segment runs from Den Helder-Zuid station to Den Helder station and takes you through the varied city, fortress and dune landscape of the marine city of Den Helder.

This walking route has been set out by the ANWB. Some of the route markers may be missing. The route starts at Den Helder train station. You walk through the Grafaliteitsduinen and Huisduinen, with its monumental church. The area is sometimes called the "gold coast" of Den Helder. You will of course walk along Fort Kijkduin, which is definitely worth a visit. Over the Zeeweg and Grasdijk you arrive at the Lange Jaap, the highest cast-iron lighthouse in Europe.

The city of Den Helder is located on the coasts of the Wadden Sea. As in many places in the Netherlands, the inhabitants of the city are protected from the water by means of dikes. This trail runs over and along the northern dike of Den Helder. A lovely walk along the Wadden Sea or a beautiful running route. The route leads to the Kaaphoofd, an old battery of the Defense Line Den Helder.

A short circular walk through the harbor area of Den Helder is one that you won't get bored easily, filled with a variety of old and new. You start at the entrance of Fort Harsens. The fortress was built in 1885, you can take a tour by appointment. From here you follow the water of the Nieuwe Diep, past a number of special harbor buildings.
