This short trail wanders through a beautiful coastal scrub full of a variety of wildlife. The trail provides visitors with a vista of the park, as well as a view of some of the last remaining vegetation in this unique environment on the Florida panhandle. The majority of this hike is along a sandy trail, which passes by dunes and through flatland ecosystems.

This trail is located at Eglin Air Force Base Wildlife Management Area (Jackson Guard) however, it is open for public use. However, visitors are required to purchase a pass from Jackson Guard on the way in. There are many different but equally fun mountain-biking trails to choose from depending on skill level.

This area contains over 20 miles of pristine riding trails, situated in the south of Eglin. This single-track varied terrain around Timberlake Pond is suited for all levels of riders and technical abilities. There are three colors to signify level of difficulty: green for beginners, yellow for intermediate, and blue for advanced.

The trailhead begins across the street from the lake, beside the bathrooms. The route crosses the road toward the end of the loop and follows the lake for less than a hundred yards.The forest canopy of Laurel Oaks, Turkey Oak, Sand Pine, Eastern Red Cedar, Virginian Juniper, Southern Magnolia casts dappled light across the path with an undergrowth of Saw Palmetto, Sparkleberry, and Deer Moss. This trailhead is located near the RV parking lot at the back of the road. This is a beautiful trail to see many parts of the surrounding Bayou. The trail is well-maintained and easy to navigate and there are many opportunities to view wildlife and local flowers along the way. This is a great choice for the whole family to enjoy!
