A fantastic trail in the Surselva along the Vorderrhein starting from the Disentis railway station in Fontanivas. Along this route there are 14 picturesque chapels and churches and idyllic villages in the typical Oberland style. From Alpe Muntatsch hikers can enjoy a spectacular view of the Medelser glacier which is located on the opposite side of the valley.

The 18th stage of path number 43 is rather short and starts from the monastery village of Disentis and goes next to the Sogn Giachen chapel, which is located in Cuoz. A beautiful high path along the railway line goes over the viaduct near Bugnei to Sedrun.

This second stage of the Rhine Route takes you through the Surselva area right through the Romansh-speaking area of Graubünden. One discovers the large floodplain landscape with a high level of biodiversity. But then there are also nice settlements with historical buildings. Between Ilanz and Reichenau is perhaps the country's most impressive gorge, the Grand Canyon of Switzerland. The end of this stage is Chur, the city with the highest density of restaurants.

Disentis / Mustér is a municipality in the Surselva region of the canton of Graubünden and it is located at an altitude of 1130 meters above sea level. The route goes over mountains and several passes to the Surselva region and Vals. This municipality is a Walser German language island in the Rhaeto-Romanic Val Lumnezia. The Walser are descendants of Upper Valais who immigrated around 700 years ago and settled in the highest valleys in Graubünden. The village is at an altitude of 1,252 m.
