This route in itself is a really great loop, and the cool part for those of you looking for a longer or more challenging hike is that you can extend the route shown here by taking any of the many side trails that all link back up. This trail is easily accessible from town. You will see lots of climbers and folks bouldering.

This is a beautiful walk or bike ride by the river. This paved trail has some hills and is well marked. It has easy access to downtown Durango and Animas Brewing is also right on the trail. Accessibility: There is 1 designated accessible space in the paved parking lot off of East 29th Street at the north end of the trail. It is van-accessible with striped access aisles. There are do not appear to be any designated accessible spaces in the gravel parking lot off of La Posta Road at Dallabetta...

Well-behaved dogs are allowed off-leash under voice control in the San Juan National Forest. This route is generally considered a moderate hike because of its length, but the terrain is pleasant and shouldn't be too difficult for most experienced hikers. Keep an eye out for the left turn onto the bridge 2.5 miles in.

This route is an easy beginner hike along Junction Creek. The hike remains mostly shady, and never gets too demanding physically, with a slight incline along the way. It can be done on its own, or as a perfect warmup for some more strenuous hiking later in the day. This is a really great way to get acclimated to Durango hiking.

This area has a ton of stuff to do, and is sure to have something for everyone, from hiking and mountain biking to horseback riding, and more.
