This is a beautiful trail that leads to Piney Mountain, one of the high points in the Duke Forest area. The route meanders through a scenic forest alongside New Hope Creek where wildlife can easily be spotted. After about a mile in, the route starts to ascend the fairly steep trail to reach Piney Mountain.

Dogs are not allowed from 10am - 5pm. Dogs on leashes are permitted before 10 a.m. or after 5 p.m. Several main paths are wheelchair-accessible; see Duke Gardens’ map for details. Free admission 365 days a year, but parking fees apply.
