This is a long shared use path that starts in Durham and goes south for over 20 miles. There are many trailheads for this path as it crosses many roads. The trail surface spans from crushed gravel to a 12 foot wide paved path. If you plan on road biking, please consult county maps for where it is paved.

Dogs are not allowed from 10am - 5pm. Dogs on leashes are permitted before 10 a.m. or after 5 p.m. Several main paths are wheelchair-accessible; see Duke Gardens’ map for details. Free admission 365 days a year, but parking fees apply. Lake Crabtree County Park is located on a 215-acre site adjacent to a 520-acre flood control lake, the park hosts more than 16 miles of trails for its main activity. Other activities include group and individual picnicking, catch-and-release fishing, boating, and nature study. Of the 16 miles of trails at Lake Crabtree, 6 of them are the loop that goes all the way around the lake. A program offers an interpretive hike that explores the entire circumference of the lake.
