There is no shade on this route and it is suggested to bring sun protection as well as plenty of water.

River views can be seen along certain areas and there are benches located throughout the way to stop and take in the beautiful scenery.

This route combines two of the more popular trails on this side of the park, the Lower and Upper Sunset Trails. The trail surface is rocky and proper footwear is suggested. There are stunning views of the surrounding Franklin Mountains and the city of El Paso. There is no shade along the way and bringing proper sun protection is advised.

Travel through a beautiful desert valley and along the Upper Sunset Trail. Park in area 1-5. From here, hike back on the paved path to the main road and head north. Enter the first arroyo on the right going east and then take the first trail to the left climbing out of the arroyo going north.
