Varied hiking trail in the Steinwald Nature Park, Bavaria. A lot of variety is guaranteed on this hike in the stone forest. After a good five and a half kilometers you reach the ruins of Weissenstein Castle, an impressive rock castle. It continues past the Schlossfelsen and the Wolfsgrube until you finally reach the summit of the Platte. The Upper Palatinate Tower there offers great views of the extensive forest landscape. Family-friendly round trip in the Steinwald Nature Park near Kemnath. The castle ruin Waldeck, which is one of the oldest castle ruins in the Upper Palatinate, sits enthroned on the Schloßberg. From here there are great views of the stone forest, the St. Aegidius castle chapel and the EWILPA (Edible Wild Plant Park) circular route to explore.

As part of the quality trail Goldsteig the route leads through the primeval valley to the dominant castle Falkenberg. You pass legendary and legendary rock formations and huge granite rocks.

This route leads through the nature park Steinwald to the castle ruins Weißenstein. The Castle was built in the 11th century and by the 13th century, was already a fortified position. The castle changed hands in the 14th century to the Notthafft Nobility who continued to add on to it. It was destroyed and rebuilt several times during the various battles for the Bavarian Throne after which, in 1550, was completely abandoned.
