Loop through the Schellenberg forest and past the Korter cliff. From here you have a beautiful view of the Baldeneysee. Then it goes steeply down to the Baldeneysee and at the Hundsnocken colliery back up to the Schellenberg forest. Now past Schellenberg Castle back to the starting point. Nice route with a few meters of altitude. Dog could run free on the paths. In the castle park, of course, on a leash.

Stage 5 of the Ruhr Valley Cycle Path. The last section of the RuhrtalRadweg continues through the Pott from Essen to the final destination Duisburg. But first it goes over the Baldeneysee to Mühlheim ad Ruhr. In addition to the water station and Aquarius water museum, the "city on the river" has the art museum in the old post office to offer. This hike starts near Schellenberg Castle and leads through the Schellenberger Forest, the Baldeneyer Forest and the Huelenhaine nature reserve in the Schellenberger Forest. In the Baldeneyer forest you have views of the Baldeneysee. Much of the hike is through forested areas and is therefore well shaded.
