The Mountain Laurel and Samp Mortar Open Spaces in Fairfield, CT are connected by a private trail. The private connecting trail was built and is maintained by a private landowner to connect the two Open Spaces. They welcome people to walk the trail and admire the unique rock formations. Enter the Samp Mortar Open Space from the formal Springer Road entrance. Enter the Mountain Laurel Open Space via the Mountain Laurel Road entrance.

Lake Mohegan and its surrounding open space comprise a total of 170.4 acres off Morehouse Highway. The Conservation Commission administers the open space property with its many hiking trails but the popular swimming area is managed by the Parks and Recreation Commission. The bridge over the Mill river includes benches to rest while listening to the river below. Certain areas require dogs be leashed. The parking area is near the intersection of Tahmore Dr and Morehouse Hwy.

This park allows pets on a leash from October 1 to April 14. Pets are NOT allowed in the park during summer season from April 15 to September 30.
