The Rio Fortuna Waterfall is also known as "La Fortuna Waterfall". It is surrounded by abundant vegetation and fauna typical of the humid tropical forest. It is located in a biological reserve of 210 hectares within the Arenal Volcano National Park. To get to the waterfall you have to walk a path of about 530 steps in the forest. Steep hike but healthy. You start from the Arenal Observatory Lodge - from the restaurant’s terrace, you go down a concrete path with a few stairs and straight into the forest. You go down to a river (refreshing water) and up the same way. If you want to be alone, that is a great hike as not many people do it!
