This is a perfect hike to get your blood flowing without too much uphill at once. Along the creek on the Slippery Rock Trail for the first half that is shady the entire way until you reach the SRock Pavilion area. A short jaunt uphill after crossing at the West Dr stop sign. Then down a fun, steepish hill towards bathrooms, a picnic area and the popular but brief Artists’ Trail that leads back to the historic Pioneer Pavilion.

The trail goes through the Witch's Caves area which is home to several rock formations and small caves. The trail then enters Cascade Gorge which has several scenic views of the waterfalls below. Start at the parking place for Lily Pond. Be sure to look for the giant turtles and large gold fish as you go by. Come down to W.West Drive to take the bridge at the south tip of Lake Glacier. From there the trail goes along Mill Creek, passing Pioneer Pavilion, the Cinderella Bridge and going on to Lanterman's Mill.
