Please note that this trail closes during hunting season (except on Sundays), which occurs in the George Washington National Forest in late fall. Although this route doesn't feature the steepest elevation gain, it earns its hard difficulty rating from tough, technical stretches of rocky trail.

Beginning from the trailhead along Del Webb Drive, the Kaylor Ridge Trail travels up through the forest towards peak. Kaylor's Knob is a rocky summit that is partially wooded but does have some nice views of the surrounding ridgelines and valleys. The summit elevation is 2,980 feet. Good hiking footwear is recommended since the footing can be quite rocky.

This loop is made up of the Massanutten South, Fridley's Gap, and an old road along Cub Run. The best view is from Fourth Mountain. There are two different entrance points for this trail. This map leaves from the main trailhead at Boone's Run and is about a 3 mile hike in before hitting the loop. If you wish for a shorter trek, start your hike from the end of Airey Road at Fridley Gap.
