The walk starts conveniently at the top of the Raed-na-Gael mountain above Fernkloof, and follows an easy trail past Kanonkop, down the Fernkloof Valley and on to the Visitors’ Centre. Since this is not a circular walk, a car should be left at both ends of the walk. It can be done by children, their parents and moderately fit grandpas and grannies.

It meanders along the rugged coastline, between the New Harbour to the west, and Piet-se-Bos, just beyond Grotto Beach, to the east. The Hermanus Cycle track is a contour path just above the town of Hermanus at the base of the mountain in the Fernkloof Nature Reserve. It's a fun trail for the whole family to enjoy. Navigation along the route can be challenging as the trails are not well-signed, having the map downloaded ahead of time can help keep you on track.
