El Lagar del Vero

Comfortable circular route from the Hermitage of La Candelera, in Salas Altas. The path runs through pine groves, holm oaks, almond groves and abundant scrub vegetation. From the Mirador de Guara we can see up to Gratal, Alquézar ... From the Mirador del Somontano the vineyards and fields of olive and almond trees ... Nice excursion for not warm days. This route offers a territory where holm oaks and gall oaks intermingle with almond, olive and cereal crops. Then, little by little, the ground hardens, the first ravines appear and the rock makes an appearance. The vegetation changes, now there are only gall oaks and holm oaks, which alternate with strawberry trees, boxwoods, junipers, ... as well as a variety of shrubs, such as rockrose, rosemary, thyme, ... The atmosphere is mountainous and smells of aromatic herbs.

This route leaves from the outskirts of Alquezar, a beautiful town nestled in the mountains and from which you can access the Sierra y los Cañones de Guara Natural Park. From Alquézar, go up to the Mesón de Sevil and down the Sierra de Sevil and Basacol rafts. A route of less than 3 hours that is worth it.

From Alquézar it is possible to walk to the hermitage of San Gregorio, located 765 meters above sea level, and from which you can see an excellent view of the roofs of the town of Alquézar and the Somontano region. Nearby there is a bird of prey observatory next to a dunghill, where a contribution of food is made every week in the autumn-winter season.

The Ultra Trails de Guara are a set of races held in the Natural Park of the Sierra y los Cañones de Guara, propelled by a group of sports and mountain lovers who wanted to bring races from all over the world to their territory.
