This is a point-to-point section of the Lone Star Hiking Trail. If you are doing this as an out-and-back day hike, please remember it will be twice the distance and visitors should plan accordingly. The route wanders through a beautiful woodland area with some of the main highlights being a beautiful lake with a couple of stream crossings.

This section of the Lone Star Hiking Trail begins off of Evelyn Ln and travels north to Farm-to-Market Rd 2296. This route is well-marked and usually pretty secluded. Shade provides hikers with afternoon sun which is a relief from the summertime heat. There are a couple of stream crossings to navigate along this section.

This is a soft pine needle trail with some roots and wooden boardwalk sections. The west side goes along the lake with some nice views. You can connect to the Dogwood Trail for a different route. Accessibility: There are several designated accessible spaces in both of the paved parking lots off of State Park Road 40 at the east end of the trail. This is a short trail that features informational signs to educate visitors on the flora and fauna in the area. The route is located just behind Huntsville State Park’s nature center. It’s a great trail for all ages to enjoy and has a nice bench on the trail to sit on and enjoy the surroundings. This route makes for a quick hike, but can easily be connected to other trails in the area.

There are lovely views of Lake Raven along the western side of the loop with access to the water on side trails.
