This trail begins from the southern end of the state park and is a great starting point if you're looking to dodge the congestion that can sometimes be found near the main entrance. The trail loops around Treman Lake and crosses over the point where Buttermilk Creek flows into the lake. Stairs are built in some of the steepest spots.
Activities
Features
This loop explores the Buttermilk Falls gorge and rim and highlights the most scenic parts of the park. From the parking area, you will first hike into the gorge with Buttermilk Creek running through it. At West King Road, walk across the bridge to the Rim Trail. This will follow above the gorge and head back to the starting point.
Activities
Features
Begin by following Buttermilk Creek into the gorge. The trail crosses West King Road and turns into the Bear Trail eventually reaching the park road. This will lead to the trail looping around Lake Treman. After looping around the lake, follow the park road up to the Rim Trail which heads back to the entrance of the park.
Activities
Features
Parking is available just off Giles St in a large lot. The trail follows Six Mile Creek with some awesome views of the river along the way. Some sections of the trail are more wooded. The trail ends at the dam creating Ithaca Reservoir. Some areas are heavily eroded and sandy, anyone who is unsure of their footing/balance may want trekking poles.
Activities
Features
Best viewing from the blue-blazed section of the Finger Lakes Trail. 1.2mi round trip. There is a steep, strenuous 500 foot climb. The view of the falls is more distant at most points. When you do come to the viewing areas, you note the height of the falls and the depth of the gorge, which are striking. Open year round, though use extreme caution during winter.
