Begin in Gifford Woods State Park where you can access the Appalachian Trail. Follow the AT through the park and uphill, crossing into Green Mountain National Forest. The Deer Leap Trail will detour off the AT and lead to the overlook with views of Shelburne Pass and Pico Peak.
