This route represents the entire GR®700 and takes you from Puy-en-Velay to Saint-Gilles on the Chemin de la Régordane or Chemin de Saint Gilles through Haute-Loire, Lozère and Gard. The area between La Bastide and Le Pradel crosses the Cévennes National Park. You will find plenty of accommodation options in towns, villages, hamlets and refuges along the way.

The GR®70, a Great Hike also called the Stevenson path, crosses the Cévennes from Puy-en-Velay to Alès. Its name comes from the Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson, who travelled this route in the fall of 1878 in the company of a donkey named Modestine. This hike starts next to the Episcopal Palace and the Notre-Dame-de-l'Annonciation Cathedral in Le Puy-en-Velay. The route crosses the Loire and passes through Holme, Herm and Mont, before arriving near the Abbey of Saint-Chaffre in Monastier-sur-Gazeille.
